  1. Slice the onions into thin strips.
  2. Heat a pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the onions to the hot pan and cook until they begin to turn golden brown and start to caramelize.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce and stir well to coat the onions.
  5. Sprinkle in the sugar and salt, using a bit more sugar than salt. Stir to combine.
  6. Once the soy sauce has evaporated, add a small amount of water to the pan.
  7. Continue cooking until the water evaporates and the onions are soft and fully caramelized.
  8. Serve as a delicious side dish or as a topping for meats, sandwiches, or burgers.
