- In a large bowl mix warm water white sugar and fresh yeast Stir until yeast and sugar are dissolved
- Add the flour to the mixture and combine to form a dough
- Add salt and knead the mixture for five minutes The dough should be sticky
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for one hour
- After one hour punch down the dough and briefly remix
- Cover again and let rest for another hour until doubled in size
- Wet your hands with water take portions of dough and shape into rings making a hole in the center
- Heat oil in a deep pot for frying
- Fry each donut in hot oil until golden brown on both sides
- Remove from oil and immediately coat with sugar
