Brown sugar is a type of sugar that has been combined with molasses.

To make brown sugar, white sugar is mixed with molasses in a ratio of approximately 1 part molasses to 2 parts white sugar. The resulting mixture is a dark brown, moist sugar with a strong molasses flavor.
